Types of Misalignment<\/h2>\n<p>Misalignment is categorised into two primary types, although in most real-world cases a combination of both is present.<\/p>\n<h3>Parallel Misalignment (Offset)<\/h3>\n<p>Parallel misalignment occurs when the two shaft centerlines run parallel to each other but are offset by some distance. Picture one shaft sitting higher or lower than the other (vertical offset), or shifted to one side (horizontal offset). The centerlines never meet; they simply run side by side.<\/p>\n<h3>Angular Misalignment<\/h3>\n<p>Angular misalignment occurs when the two shafts sit at an angle to each other.
