Dynamic Balancing of Fan Impeller in Wind Tunnel Using Balanset-1A

Objective: The goal was to perform dynamic balancing of a fan impeller in a wind tunnel that is part of an installation capable of lifting a person into the air. The installation comprises two fans, each powered by a 400-hp motor. Balanset-1A was selected for the task due to its precision and effectiveness.

Process: Balanset-1A was used to measure the imbalance in the fan impeller. Once the imbalance was determined, the appropriate weights were added to the impeller to counteract the imbalance and reduce vibrations.

Outcome: As a result of the dynamic balancing, the following benefits were achieved:

  1. Lower noise levels, enhancing the user experience in the wind tunnel.
  2. Extended bearing life, reducing maintenance requirements and downtime.
  3. Reduced energy consumption, leading to cost savings.
  4. Decreased risk of breakdowns, ensuring reliable operation of the installation.

In conclusion, dynamic balancing with Balanset-1A proved crucial for the efficient and reliable operation of the fan impeller in the wind tunnel. The improvements not only contribute to cost savings but also enhance the overall user experience.
