Stress and pressure unit conversion
Convert one documented force-per-area quantity among Pa, kPa, MPa, GPa, N/mm², bar, psi, ksi and kilogram-force units. Optionally calculate the resultant of a uniform normal stress or pressure over a controlled area.

Method, dimensions and boundaries
qPa = qmasukan × fmasukan
qunit = qPa ÷ funit
F = qPa × Am² (uniform normal traction only)
Exact SI identity: 1 MPa = 10^6 N/m² = 1 N/mm² exactly.
What this verifies
- Force-per-area dimensions: Pa = N/m².
- Exact SI prefixes and bar scaling.
- Consistent psi, ksi and kilogram-force conversions.
- Dimensional force result when the uniform-area assumption is true.
What this does not verify
- Whether the entered property or pressure is correct.
- Material grade, product form, thickness or temperature applicability.
- Gauge versus absolute pressure, stress tensor components or sign convention.
- Allowables, load combinations, safety factors, pressure rating or code compliance.
For a nonuniform normal traction p(x,y), the resultant is F = ∫A p(x,y)dA; multiplying one scalar by an area is not generally sufficient. Shear or multiaxial stress requires the applicable vector/tensor treatment.
Sources and classification
- BIPM, SI Brochure, 9th edition, version 4.01 (2025/2026 publication file): the pascal is the SI derived unit for pressure and stress, equal to N/m²; SI prefixes define kPa, MPa and GPa.
- NIST SP 811, Appendix B.9: official pressure/stress conversion factors for psi, ksi and kilogram-force units; exact factors are marked by NIST where applicable.
Klasifikasi: the conversion equations are dimensional unit transformations, not formulas prescribed by a material or design standard. The removed steel-property table cited broad ASTM/EN families without exact parts, editions, product conditions or row-level evidence; it is not reproduced.
