The algebraic identity is a cross-check only. Each factor still requires a non-zero denominator and traceable input definitions.

Why no 85% grade is shown

The former 85% “world-class” line and poor/average presets were not tied to a controlling standard or process scope. A target is an organizational comparison basis, not a universal physical or ISO acceptance limit.

Effectiveness above 100%: the arithmetic is not clamped. It indicates that output relative to APT exceeded the entered planned run time per item. Review PRI, product mix, time-state classification and counter boundaries before interpreting the KPI.

Excluded

  • Calendar utilization, TEEP and capacity utilization.
  • Automatic state classification, planned/unplanned downtime decisions or line aggregation.
  • Root-cause attribution such as assuming availability is usually the largest or fastest improvement.
  • Target compliance, financial impact, maintenance action or production acceptance.
