The tool reports only whether each measured number is numerically at/below or above the user-entered number. The hardness values must use the same scale; no HRC/HV/HBW conversion is performed. A nonnegative difference is not a material-qualification verdict and does not resolve test uncertainty, specimen/location coverage, weld/HAZ mapping or all other conditions in the selected route.

Published editions and revision status

As checked on 12 July 2026, the published series is ISO 15156-1:2020, ISO 15156-2:2020 un ISO 15156-3:2020, each edition 4. ISO marks them published and to be revised. The replacement projects ISO/DIS 15156-2 un ISO/DIS 15156-3 remain under development and are not substituted here for the published editions. AMPP lists the combined US adoption as ANSI/NACE MR0175-2021/ISO 15156:2020.

What the official scope supports

Part 1 covers selection and qualification of metallic materials for H₂S-containing environments in oil/gas production and natural-gas sweetening plants. It supplements rather than replaces design codes and is not necessarily applicable to refining or downstream equipment. Part 2 addresses carbon/low-alloy steels and cast irons for SSC, SOHIC/SZC and HIC/SWC; Part 3 addresses CRAs and other alloys for SSC, SCC and GHSC. Parts 2 and 3 concern cracking, not general or localized material loss.

Why the former automatic screen was removed

The former script assigned one hardness limit to broad families such as “austenitic stainless”, “nickel alloy” and “CRA general”, assigned a universal carbon-steel yield limit, classified the environment from H₂S partial pressure alone and could display an automatic positive screening conclusion. Exact alloy chemistry/UNS, product form, processing, heat treatment, cold work, weld condition, exposure and the full environmental/design basis were not evaluated. Its table values and clause routes require a licensed controlled source and cannot be reconstructed from ISO catalogue abstracts.

Required engineering review: verify the exact project-adopted edition, maintenance interpretations/errata, material route, environmental limits, fabrication condition, test method and acceptance rule. Also assess corrosion mechanisms and design-code requirements outside ISO 15156’s cracking scope.
