Velocity range at the ±3 g (ADXL335) limit
Because the ADXL335 measures up to ±3 g, the maximum vibration velocity it can capture depends on frequency. The table below shows the velocity ceiling — the level at which acceleration reaches ±3 g:
| Frequency | RPM | Vmax (peak) | Vmax (RMS) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10 Hz | 600 | 468 mm/s | 331 mm/s |
| 25 Hz | 1500 | 187 mm/s | 132 mm/s |
| 50 Hz | 3000 | 93.7 mm/s | 66.2 mm/s |
| 100 Hz | 6000 | 46.8 mm/s | 33.1 mm/s |
| 200 Hz | 12000 | 23.4 mm/s | 16.6 mm/s |
| 500 Hz | 30000 | 9.4 mm/s | 6.6 mm/s |
| 1000 Hz | 60000 | 4.7 mm/s | 3.3 mm/s |
Calculation: Vpeak (mm/s) = 3 · 9810 / (2π·f) ≈ 4683 / f. RMS = peak / √2.
This is the maximum vibration velocity before the sensor reaches its ±3 g ceiling. At typical balancing speeds (1500–3000 rpm) the velocity headroom is far above any ISO 10816 threshold; the acceleration limit only becomes significant on high-speed spindles from 30,000 rpm and up.
