Current product standards

ISO 4014:2022 covers partially threaded hexagon head bolts and ISO 4017:2022 covers fully threaded hexagon head screws, both in steel and stainless steel with metric coarse-pitch threads M1.6–M64 and product grades A/B. This page is a limited M6–M48 nominal lookup, not a reproduction of all tolerances, preferred lengths or conformity requirements.

ISO 4014 minimum thread-length rule

b = 2d+6 (L≤125); 2d+12 (125<L≤200); 2d+25 (L>200), mm

For the estimate, threaded length is min(b,L). ISO 4017 is modelled as threaded over L. Real products include runout and incomplete thread; verify availability and exact limits in the licensed standard or supplier drawing.

The head is an ideal regular hexagonal prism across flats s. The smooth part is a nominal-diameter cylinder. The threaded part is represented by the basic pitch-diameter cylinder from the ISO metric basic profile. This is an engineering estimate only: chamfers, bearing face, fillets, runout, tolerances, thread-root geometry and coating are omitted.

These are basic nominal display values. Widths/tolerances depend on the actual product standard and grade; DIN-pattern products must not be assumed identical. A current Fastenal ISO 4014 product specification independently confirms the ISO M10/M12 dimensions and tolerances, while Fabory ISO product records confirm the thread-length branches and show why catalogue mass depends on the exact product.
