Exact definitions — signed force quantity
Exact Force Unit Converter
Convert the same force quantity between SI,gravitational and customary force units. The converter does not infer mass, local weight, bolt preload or a safe working load.

The newton is the coherent SI force unit:1N=1kg·m·s⁻². SI prefixes are exact,so1daN=10N,1kN=1000N and1MN=1,000,000N.

ที่ BIPM SI Brochure,9th edition (2019,updated2026) gives the SI system and coherent derived units. NIST SP811 AppendixB.8 publishes the conventional kgf, lbf, kip and poundal conversions. The implementation derives full-precision factors from exact1lb=0.45359237kg,1ft=0.3048m and standard acceleration gn=9.80665m/s².
Mass,weight and engineering limits
Mass is not force. Actual weight is the local gravitational force and uses the local acceleration of free fall, not automatically gn. Kilogram-force and pound-force are conventional force units based on gn. A force-unit conversion supplies no fastener proof area, preload fraction, friction model, load path or safety factor;therefore no bolt or lifting recommendation is produced.
