Documented Gear-Oil Thermal Volume & Mass Calculator
Estimate how an already documented oil volume changes between two temperatures using a coefficient supplied for the actual lubricant. Optional reference density propagates mass and the modelled target density. This is not a gearbox fill,level,grade or drain-interval calculator.

β is converted to1/°C;temperature differences are converted to°C. Density propagation assumes fixed oil mass and uses the same volume model. The page rejects a nonpositive expansion factor rather than reporting a nonphysical volume.
Physics source and approximation
OpenStax University Physics Volume2,section1.3 defines volume expansion for liquids and gives ΔV=βVΔT as a constant-coefficient approximation. β is a material property that varies with temperature;use a coefficient and interval documented for the actual oil.
Not ASTM/API volume correction
ASTM D1250-25/API MPMS Chapter11.1 is the current active guide for temperature/pressure volume-correction factors for generalized petroleum groups and lubricating oils. Its official scope states that the full algorithms and examples reside in licensed adjuncts and includes special-application treatment when generalized parameters are inadequate. This page does not implement or claim conformity to those algorithms.
Required gearbox quantity remains external
NORD service guidance directs users to the gearbox nameplate/order confirmation for oil type and quantity and requires changes for a different mounting version. SEW-EURODRIVE filling instructions likewise use order-specific oil and nameplate/manual quantity. Therefore this page never derives fill from center distance,face width,stage count or gearbox type.

Why the former fill guide was removed
The previous page used unverified type factors in V≈k·a²·b,added70% per stage and published generic level heights,viscosity grades,synthetic recommendations and drain hours. None of those values was tied to an exact gearbox,oil,load or manufacturer procedure. They were removed rather than relabelled as approximate.
