ISO 1328-1:2013 Tolerance Formulas

Where A is the flank tolerance class (1–11), mn is the normal module, d the reference diameter and b the facewidth, in mm. Tolerances are calculated for class 5 and scaled by the step factor √2 per class (20.5(A−5)), so values double every two classes. Total profile tolerance FαT and total helix tolerance FβT are the root-sum-squares of the corresponding slope and form tolerances (clause 5.3). The formulae apply within 5 ≤ z ≤ 1 000, 5 mm ≤ d ≤ 15 000 mm, 0.5 mm ≤ mn ≤ 70 mm, 4 mm ≤ b ≤ 1 200 mm.
