BSP (G, ISO 228) is parallel/straight and seals with a gasket or O-ring. BSPT (R, ISO 7) is tapered 1:16 and seals by thread interference plus PTFE tape or sealant.
BSP uses the Whitworth 55° included angle with rounded crests and roots. NPT uses 60° with flat crests.
No. Different angles (55° vs 60°) and different OD/TPI values. Adapters are required between BSP and NPT systems.
Measure male thread OD and count TPI. Match to table. Example: ~20.9 mm OD, 14 TPI = G½. BSP sizes refer to pipe bore, not thread OD.
Standard PTFE tape (3–5 wraps in tightening direction) for water/air. Yellow gas-rated tape for gas. Liquid sealant (Loctite 577 or similar) for permanent joints.
