The conversions and differences are general arithmetic, not an IEEE or ISO formula. Equality is included at each entered setpoint. A negative margin means the measurement is above that entered setpoint. Optional ΔT is not assigned a universal severity.
NEEDS_LICENSED_SOURCE: the former 70–105°C table was attributed to IEEE C50.13 and “common manufacturer practices”, but no accessible normative clause or product-specific record supported those four universal rows, lubricant offsets or ΔT limits. The values were removed rather than guessed.
IEEE C50.13 lifecycle and scope
Official record: IEEE C50.13-2014. That scope does not justify selecting a bearing setpoint from bearing type and lubricant alone, nor applying one table to every generator.
Product and application dependence
De SKF Bearing Maintenance Handbook describes lubricant temperature limits as product-dependent and notes that the high-temperature performance limit is not internationally standardized. SKF grease selection guidance also ties range to base oil, thickener, additives and bearing type.
Schaeffler rolling-bearing lubrication guidance explains that operating temperature follows heat generation and dissipation through the bearing, adjacent parts and environment; operating tests may be needed. Therefore generic lubricant temperature offsets and universal temperature-rate rules were removed.
ISO vibration standards are not temperature-setpoint sources
ISO10816-1:1995 is withdrawn, and ISO20816-1:2016 concerns vibration measurement and evaluation. Neither official scope supplies a generator-bearing temperature alarm or trip value.
Interpretation boundary
Embedded bearing-metal temperature, housing temperature and lubricant temperature are different measurands. Verify sensor calibration, installation, signal scaling, filtering, alarm delay, voting/interlocks, operating state and the exact approved response procedure. A webpage comparison cannot certify safe operation or command a shutdown.
