Tooth Meshing Frequency

Ang tooth meshing frequency (TMF) ay ang rate kung saan ang chain links ay nakikipag-engage sa sprocket teeth:

  • Z₁ — bilang ng teeth sa driving sprocket
  • n₁ — driver shaft speed (RPM)

Halimbawa — 17/51 Chain Drive

Given: Z₁ = 17, Z₂ = 51, Links = 120, n₁ = 1450 RPM

TMF = 17 × 1450 / 60 = 410.83 Hz

Chain freq = 17 × 1450 / (60 × 120) = 3.42 Hz

Driven speed = 1450 × 17/51 = 483.3 RPM

Speed ratio = 17/51 = 0.333

⚠️ Note: Para sa sprockets na may mas kaunting 21 teeth, ang polygonal (chordal) effect ay nagiging makabuluhan, na nagdudulot ng mas mataas na TMF harmonics kahit sa healthy chain drives. Gumamit ng 21+ teeth sprockets kapag ang smooth operation ay kritikal.
